Saratoga One a Days – 9/2

Caleb extended his lead yesterday with a place horse and Josh and Mark have work to do.

Caleb @CalebWVU

Race 2 – #6 Guntown: Accretive is likely to go off favored, but his comeback race last out did not come back very fast. I’m also a bit skeptical of his ability to stretch out to a mile, so I’m looking elsewhere. Tonal Impact is the Linda runner most likely to attract money, but I’m actually more interested in the other Linda, Guntown. I think this four-year-old gelding ran a strong race two back when he was stuck on a dead rail, and last out he had a spot of trouble at the beginning and just got going a little too late. I like the slight stretch out back to one mile, and I find it interesting that Lezcano ends up here instead of Tonal Impact with Jose Ortiz riding down at Kentucky Downs. He may need a bit of pace up front, but I think he is primed for a big effort today.

Josh @CherryDrank

Race 10 – #9 Tallahatchiebridge: Race 10 at Saratoga looks to have a bit of speed up front, so I’m looking for some off-the pace-horses. I think the #9 Tallahatchiebridge will get first run on the fading speed and has a good enough late kick to hold on. He is coming in to this race in good form and should get the jump on the likely favorite #6 I’m Very Busy. #1 Danzigwiththestars loves Saratoga and should get some pace to run into as well.

Mark @Two_Turns

Race 12 – #9 Jayla: I struggled to make spot plays on this card, it’s a tough one for the closing weekend and value was hard for me to find. I landed back on Jayla who was a pick of mine when she last ran in a race that was rained off her preferred surface where she ran fine but clearly didn’t love the going. Antonucci has had a little more time to figure this one out and her numbers going dirt to turf are pretty solid (17%, although this situation probably deserves an asterisk). There are no world beaters in this field so hopefully she can sit mid pack and make one sustained move and find that closing kick which she was missing versus classier foe’s this winter at the Fairgrounds.
