Race 3 – #6 Ribot’s Valentine: At first blush, Khali Magic appears to be a very formidable favorite in this spot, easily clearing these conditions three races back and then winning against open allowance company. However, despite the impressive resume, she really isn’t much faster than most of her competition based on speed figures. I’m willing to play against using Ribot’s Valentine. This filly appears to be improving at the right time, and I was really impressed with her last race on August 3rd. She was likely never beating the runaway 4/5 winner that day, but I thought she ran huge on the inside over an extremely dead rail. She should inherit a great stalking trip today off of the main speeds and appears ready to take another step forward in her 3rd start off the layoff.

Race 7 – #7 I’m So Sorry: Before her last effort, #7 I’m So Sorry looked to be a filly on the improve. Although she only has one win to her name, she has put in some good efforts that are competitive in this field. Optix has her as a Q1 square and speed is always dangerous on the inner turf. The cutback should help but what really interests me is the fact that her 2 and 3 back races put her slightly ahead of the two short priced Chad Brown runners on Optix figs. My love of speed knows no bounds, and I expect #7 I’m So Sorry to rebound from her poor effort last time out going a marathon distance.

Race 1 – #9 Vesture: It’s September, we only have 4 days of Saratoga left and I need to put in a little work to chase down Caleb. Vesture is a homebred who is out of a dam who broke her maiden going 5.5f across the Saratoga turf and she’s been training very forwardly for this while having some crazy fast bullets across the Oklahoma surface. I’ve very publicly bashed Leparoux in the past but I find it very interesting that he rode at Kentucky Downs yesterday, flew to Saratoga for just one mount and then will be back at KD Saturday. The trainer Al Stall also has an interesting stat of being 18% with a $4.68 ROI for first time starters in turf sprints over the past 5 years.(edited)
