Race 5 – #5 Front Man: There are a few runners in today’s fifth race at Saratoga who are exiting that July 13 race at Saratoga, including my top pick Front Man. That race featured a very slow pace with very little change of positions among the top seven finishers. Unleash the Power may take money here based off his second place effort last out, but I thought he was the horse I wanted least from that affair. He tracked a slow pace, never made up ground on the winner, and was quite lucky to hold on for second. He now has to stretch out another furlong from an outside draw with other speed drawn inside. I thought Front Man ran a strong race despite being against the flow, as he was getting to Unleash the Power late and was one of the few horses able to make up some ground. The pace should be far more honest today, and Junior retains the mount for Kantarmaci, who are 17% with a $2.85 ROI together over the past year.

Race 8 – #4 Bernt Again: This race looks to have a fair bit of pace and the 2-1 ML favorite, Silver Skillet, will be a part of it. Bernt Again comes into this race in good form, coming off a 2nd place in a NY Stallion Series race and two wins prior to that. The winner of that last race, Orange Freeze, is in here as well, but Rosario jumped off to hop on to the favorite. Pace favors this P type runner and the connections lack of success in stakes races benefits our price.

Race 6 – #4 Cuz Ur Pretty: With rain overnight and the turf for Wednesday being far from a sure thing, I pivoted to one of the dirt races and landed on a Finger Lakes invader. This three-year-old daughter of Sharp Azteca has rattled off 3 consecutive allowance wins and is four of five lifetime. She’s the controlling speed here and gets one of the best jocks in the country at dictating race flow while on the engine. Price should be square as Finger Lakes shippers tend to get ignored on the board and you have to love seeing a big-name jock hopping up. Her trainer has had prior success shipping into Saratoga as well with 4 starters over the past 5 years all hitting the board and producing an $11.85 ROI.
