Caleb took a commanding lead with a nice $10 winner yesterday. Mark and Josh combined to not hit the money in the same race yesterday and look to bounce back here.

Race 9 – #10 Chasing the Crown: Ari Gold and Exact Estimate are likely to vie for favoritism in this race. Both can certainly win, but neither are a standout against this field, and I’m hoping they create value on other runners. I’m siding with Chasing the Crown, who will be a shorter price than I’d normally go for in a play of the day, but I feel strongly that he is squarely the horse to beat. He has raced in some extremely tough spots, facing off against the likes of future G1 winner Up to the Mark, Strong Quality, and Easter, all of whom would be heavily favored against this field. His win two back at CD was extremely impressive as he overcame a glacial pace to storm home for a dominant win, and he proved that was no fluke with a strong second place last time out. I think he should get a great outside stalking position on a turf course that continues to favor wide off the pace runners, and at 9/2 I think he offers excellent value.

Race #8 – #3 Knowing Glance: This filly is coming into this race in great form off a win 1st off the claim for Kelly Breen. Should sit just off the pace and get first run on the speed. Needs to improve speed figure-wise to win here, but has been on an upward trajectory since turning 4. Knowing Glance has run well at Saratoga and finished in the money in all three starts. When Kelly Breen gets a horse going the right way, they tend to keep going as he is an 18% trainer after a win. Perhaps this is a tough spot with Mosienko and Know it All Audrey also in this race, but at 8-1 on the morning line I’ll take my shot.

Race 7 – #7 Ghost Giant: It’s not very often that you see a horse with 47 starts and you can make the argument that they’ve been campaigned wrong for most of their career, but I think that’s the case with Ghost Giant. If you cross out every one-turn race he’s run and focus on the two-turn turf routes, his form massively improves. 4 of his 8 career wins come going this two-turn mile with one of those wins coming in an identical race just last summer. The low percentage Donk barn sees fit to leg up hall of famer Johnny Velazquez and that combo happens to hit at over 20% together. Adding value in this situation is that speed has not been good so far this meet in turf routes and the chalk here should go full send with Ghost Giant sitting a perfect pocket trip.
